Configuring Your System and Network

High-Availability Shutdown Options

If you have a high-availability NAS server, you have several shutdown options:

Stop the server and do not fail over packages.

You can either:

■

manually stop each failover package, then stop the server, or

■

stop the server and cause the packages to stop automatically.

Once the server is stopped, it is no longer active in the cluster and is not serving
any file systems. To stop it, use the

Shutdown/Restart Procedure

Fail all packages over to the other server.

1. Stop each failover package and restart it on the other server.

2. When the packages are all failed over, stop the server (take it out of the

cluster) using the

Shutdown/Restart Procedure

Fail selected packages over to the other server.

This option is similar to the previous option, except that you fail over only
selected packages.

Stop the entire cluster by taking both servers down.

You can either:

■

manually stop all packages on both servers, then stop the cluster, or

■

stop the clustering services to automatically stop all packages.

When the clustering service stops, shut down each server by using the

Shutdown/Restart Procedure
