Using Local FTP to Update Signature Files
HP Virus Guard is designed to easily download virus signature updates either
directly or via proxy from the signature provider’s FTP site. In some instances, it
may not be possible to have this type of connection to the Internet.
The following sections eplain how to set up HP Virus Guard to download from a
local FTP server.
Installing/Configuring FTP Server
1. Install an FTP server at a location that is accessible by HP Virus Guard.
2. Configure your FTP server to allow anonymous access (read only).
3. Configure a storage location for your FTP server (for example,
d:\ftp
).
4. Create the FTP directory
\pub\inoculan\scaneng
(i.e.
d:\ftp\pub\inoculan\scaneng
)
Downloading Required Files
1. Using BINARY transfer, use an FTP client to download the following files
from
ftpav.ca.com
, and put them in the local FTP directory (for example,
d:\ftp\pub\inoculan\scaneng
).
— \pub\inoculan\scaneng\Siglist.txt
— \pub\inoculan\scaneng\fi_Linux_i386.tar
— \pub\inoculan\scaneng\ii_Linux_i386.tar
Configuring HP Virus Guard
1. In HP Virus Guard, select Virus File Updates and enter the name or IP
address of your local FTP server.
2. Clear all proxy server and port information.
Testing Signature Update
1. In HP Virus Guard, select Virus File Updates.
2. Select Actions > Update Now.
3. Select the Logs tab and ensure that the update was Successful.
