NAS 8000 Overview
What is NAS?
Network-attached storage (NAS) is a storage solution that is optimized for file
storage and sharing. Its plug-and-play functionality makes data management easy,
while the protocol support means you can use NAS with UNIX and Windows
clients for truly heterogeneous storage access. HP’s NAS solution has been
optimized for file serving, giving you greater storage utilization and client access.
And because HP’s NAS solution is scalable and easy to use, you can rely upon it
well into the future.
HP’s NAS solution is available as a stand-alone storage solution, a high
availability cluster configuration, or as part of your file serving solution in a SAN
environment. NAS devices also have built-in redundancy features to protect
against failure and downtime.
A NAS solution typically consists of a server, a set of disk drives, a custom
operating system, and a built-in web interface for managing storage. You can add
a NAS device to an existing LAN network to improve your storage performance,
capacity, and services.
