dure below b efo re using y our instrument for the first t ime to en sure that the inst rument func tions pr op-

STEP 1
With the inst rument tur ned OFF, inse rt the f irs t Ge neralm usic “W K3 OS-D isk
1/2” inc luded in y our materials pac ket into the disk dr ive. After y ou have
inserted the disk, turn the inst rument ON .
STEP 2
Y ou w ill see a message in the inst rume nt display scree n that says:
Loading OS-DISK c lears ALL MEMOR Y!! <Enter to Lo ad/Escap e to abort>
Press ENTER and wait about 3 minutes unt il you se e a seco nd message in the
display that sa ys:
INSERT NEX T OS-DISK please <Enter t o lo ad/Escap e to abort>
STEP 3
Remo ve the first disk fro m the dr ive and inse rt the se co nd disk “WK3 OS-
Disk 2/2” in the dr ive.
Press ENTER and wait until the loading op eratio n terminat es.
Wh en the new system has finishe d loading , remo ve the oper ating syst em
disk WK3 OS-DISK 2/2 from the dr ive b efo re pr oceeding to the final step .
FINAL STEP
Press and hold the UPP ER 1 selector butto n lo cated to the rig ht of the L CD
display and simultaneously pr ess buttons 2, 3 and 4 of the PR OG RAMMA -
BLE PADS se ction. The message SYSTEM RESET app ears in the display fo r
a few seconds the n the instrume nt rese ts to the facto ry-set situatio n.

If the instr ument has b een le ft turned off for a lo ng per io d of time, the ba cking batte ry w ill slo wly
discharge, causing the t otal loss of all user pr ogr ammed data. I f the batt ery has lost its c harge co m-
pletely, w hen you tur n the inst rume nt on, it w ill lock . T o r estore normal op eratio n, fol lo w the
pro ced ure ou tlined be low t o r echarge the batter y.
1. T ur n the inst rume nt on with the ”WK3 OS Disk 1/2” inserted in the dr ive and fo llo w the O per at-
ing Syst em loading p ro ced ure as descr ibed on the fro nt page of the o wne r’s manual, “ IMPOR-
TANT - R ead Bef ore Using K ey bo ard ! ” .
2. Wh en you ha ve carrie d ou t the SYSTEM RESET pro cedur e as describ ed in the FINAL STEP , leave
the instrume nt on f or at least 2 hours t o rec harge the batt ery .
If y ou forese e leaving the inst rume nt tu rned off fo r a long p eri od of time, be su re t o sav e al l user-
pro gramme d data to disk (So ngs and S ong/St yles, User St yles, Per fo rmanc es).
If the instr ument wo rks at p ower up after b eing left tur ned off f or a lo ng per iod of time, leave it o n fo r
at least 3-4 hours to r echar ge the batt ery .

Read Before Using Keyboard!
Congratulations on your purchase of the new Generalmusic WK3 World Keyboard. This instrument is
equipped with cutting edge Flash ROM memory, so that your new keyboard can be permanently updated
by disks with the latest operational advantages and new features.
It is important that you follow the proce-
dure below before using your instrument for the first time to ensure that the instrument functions prop-
erly
. Check with your authorised Generalmusic dealer for exciting new features to load in your Flash ROM
in the future.
STEP 1
With the instrument turned OFF, insert the first Generalmusic “WK3 OS-Disk
1/2” included in your materials packet into the disk drive.
After you have
inserted the disk, turn the instrument ON .
STEP 2
You will see a message in the instrument display screen that says:
Loading OS-DISK clears ALL MEMORY!! <Enter to Load/Escape to abort>
Press ENTER
and wait about 3 minutes until you see a second message in the
display that says:
INSERT NEXT OS-DISK please <Enter to load/Escape to abort>
STEP 3
Remove the first disk from the drive and insert the second disk “WK3 OS-
Disk 2/2” in the drive.
Press ENTER and wait until the loading operation terminates.
When the new system has finished loading, remove the operating system
disk WK3 OS-DISK 2/2 from the drive before proceeding to the final step .
FINAL STEP
Press and hold the UPPER 1 selector button located to the right of the LCD
display and simultaneously press buttons 2, 3 and 4 of the PROGRAMMA-
BLE PADS section.
The message SYSTEM RESET appears in the display for
a few seconds then the instrument resets to the factory-set situation.
You have now completed the update process, and your Generalmusic World
Keyboard has been permanently upgraded.

Procedure to unlock the instrument
If the instrument has been left turned off for a long period of time, the backing battery will slowly
discharge, causing the total loss of all user programmed data. If the battery has lost its charge com-
pletely, when you turn the instrument on, it will lock. To restore normal operation, follow the
procedure outlined below to recharge the battery.
1.
Turn the instrument on with the ”WK3 OS Disk 1/2” inserted in the drive and follow the Operat-
ing System loading procedure as described on the front page of the owner’s manual, “
IMPOR-
TANT - Read Before Using Keyboard! ”.
2. When you have carried out the SYSTEM RESET procedure as described in the FINAL STEP, leave
the instrument on for at least 2 hours to recharge the battery .
If you foresee leaving the instrument turned off for a long period of time, be sure to save all user-
programmed data to disk (Songs and Song/Styles, User Styles, Performances).
If the instrument works at power up after being left turned off for a long period of time, leave it on for
at least 3-4 hours to recharge the battery .
