4.0L SOHC V-6 Engine
The Explorer and Mountaineer can be equipped with a 4.0-liter, SOHC, V-6 engine with:
•
210 hp and 254 lb-ft of torque.
To meet U.S. government LEV I emission requirements and to accomodate new features, many components of
the 4.0L SOHC V6 have been modified. These include:
•
All evaporative emission hoses and fittings.
– The lines and connections use quick connect ends.
– The lines and connections are constructed of a non-permeable material.
– This design allow this vehicle to meet LEV I evaporative emission standard.
The materials used for the following seals and gaskets have improved materials to minimize the level of
evaporative emission permeation.
•
The intake manifold and gasket.
•
The oil filter-to-cylinder block gasket.
•
The camshaft position sensor O-ring.
