LESSON 4: ELECTRICAL
TPMS Removal and Installation
TPMS Sensor
TPMS removal requires special procedures to prevent damage to the TPMS sensors.
CAUTION: Do not remove the valve stem core to relieve the tire pressure. If the valve stem core is
inadvertently removed from the valve stem, a new nickel-plated core must be installed. Failure to use
a nickel-plated core will result in corrosion and the possible loss of tire pressure.
To remove the TPMS sensor:
1.
Position the valve stem at the 6 o’clock position.
2.
Remove the sensor-retaining nut and push the sensor/valve stem into the tire.
3.
Place the wheel and tire on the turntable of the tire machine so that the valve stem hole is positioned 270
degrees from the mounting/dismounting fixture arm.
4.
Separate both beads of the tire from the wheel. Be sure the tire machine arm does not contact the sensor.
