Driveline System

Rear Differential

The Explorer and Mountaineer driveline system is similar to that of the 2003 Aviator. It uses a Dana 30 front

differential. The rear differential is an 8.8-inch Ford axle.

•

Features of the driveline system include:

– A 3.55 axle ratio on 2WD vehicles.

– A 3.73 axle ratio on 4WD vehicles.

– New bushings.
