- Switch off the truck power connections;
Remove the steering motor(see section 5.8);
Unscrew three screws(2) on the speed
mounting plate(1) and remove the speed
encoder(3).
5.9.1 Removal
- Install according to the reverse order of rem-
oval.
Installation
5.9 Speed Encoder
Speed encoder is used to detect the speed
of the motor and covert the speed into fixed
signals.

5.9.3 Checking and Testing
Checking
- Check if the speed encoder and the appear-
ance of cables are in good condition, and if
the plug connection is secure;
- The vehicle is powered on, measure the volt-
age between pin connector (93#) and (90#)
with a multimeter, normally should be 5V;
Testing
- Remove the speed encoder and check if
its sensing surface is parallel to the round
section of magnet.

Check if the connection between 41# and 42#
is reversed. (If the two circuits are connected
reversely, the controller will report for failure,
and the handheld unit will display fault code:
83 BAD ENCODER SIGN)
Check “ENC SPEED” readings on TESTER
Menu (EPS-DC0).(see Section 8.13)
Operate the forklift, if the display is always “0”:
Speed encoder failure, replace the encoder.
