Power
Dukane has patented its Trigger by Power feature. Go

During the downstroke, the ultrasound signal is immedi-
ately turned on with the Start Amplitude setting. When the
power level reaches the trigger value, the weld amplitude is
applied. Choose this trigger type when the operator wants
the ultrasound signal to start as the horn touches the part
to be welded. If the maximum trigger time is reached, the
weld is aborted and the press is returned to top of stroke.
The figure to the right shows that with
Power
as the
trigger type, five other parameters need to be set:
Trigger Power, Max Trigger Time, Start Amplitude,
Sensing Start Position, and Sensing Speed

Trigger Type - Position
Position
The factory default setting for Trigger Type is Position.
After the system has completed the initiate mode, the press
head travels down at the Sense Speed until it has reached
the trigger position.
After the trigger position is reached, it then changes to
the programmed welding speed.
The figure to the right shows the Process Setting menu
appearance when Position is the trigger type.
Set the trigger position. This is the place on the distance
encoder where the ultrasound signal will be activated.
A secondary parameter
Max Trigger Time
needs to be pro-
grammed as well. If the weld is not accomplished within
the set time, the weld will be terminated.

MAX TRIGGER TIME is a secondary char-
acteristic of Position, Power and Force. The
time forces the weld portion of the cycle to
stop even if the specified control parameter
is not met.
