Additional Hardware Settings

The next group of hardware settings (following the Serial

Port settings and the System Status I/O settings) deals with

various functions. These eight selections provide further

customizing of the

generator. Figure 5-53 diagrams

these selections.

Advanced Process Settings

Enabling

Advanced Process Settings

allows the opera-

tor to adjust a few of the higher level settings through the

Process Settings

menus.

To enable Advanced Process settings:

1. From the main menu select the

Utilities/Hard-

ware

soft key. In the

Process Utilities

screen

select the

Hardware Setup

soft key.

2. In the

Hardware Settings

screen scroll to

Adv.

Process Settings

which is located near the

bottom of the list, press the

Enable

soft key,

and then the

YES

soft key in the next screen.

Advanced process settings are now enabled.

Care should be taken when changing these settings because

the system could be damaged in some way.
Before changes are allowed, a warning screen displays an

alert. See Figure 5-54.

Descriptions of each of the settings are shown below.

• Free Run Frequency

Free run is the frequency at which the generator drives

the ultrasound output pulses until a valid feedback sig-

nal is detected. Typically this value should be below the

operating frequency of the stack.

• Frequency Tracking

When Enabled, at the end of each cycle the operating

frequency is applied to the Free Running Frequency set-

ting. It's based on a 16 point average. Therefore, after 16

cycles, the actual operating frequency will be the Free

Running Frequency setting. If the generator has not been

cycled for a minimum of 5 minutes, the generator will

request that the stack be scanned in order to verify the

optimum Free Running Frequency setting.
