Troubleshooting

Powertrain cooling system

The cooling system helps to maintain the proper

operating temperature for the equipment connected

to the cooling circuit. It consists of a cooling loop,

radiator, pump, and fans.

Component descriptions

Cooling Circuit

The cooling circuit runs through each component

connected to the cooling system. It consists of a

reservoir, radiator, pump, and associated coolant

lines. Equipment is connected to the coolant lines in

three parallel branches. One branch runs through

the propulsion motor and Traction inverter, one

branch runs through the DCDC and air brake

compressor, and one runs through the OBC.

The radiator and reservoir are not supplied by Dana

and are outside the scope of this troubleshooting

guide.

Powertrain Coolant Pump

The Powertrain Coolant Pump circulates coolant

through the cooling circuit. It is powered by 24V low

voltage and communicates through the CAN

network.

Cooling Fans

The cooling fans circulate air through the radiator to

carry away waste heat from the coolant. The same

fans are also used by the HVAC system to circulate

air through the condenser.
