3.4.6.1 Port Based VLAN
Port-based VLAN can effectively segment one network into several broadcast domains. Broadcast,
multicast and unknown packets will be limited to within the VLAN. Port-Based VLAN is
uncomplicated and fairly rigid in implementation and is useful for network administrators who wish to
quickly and easily set up VLAN so as to isolate the effect of broadcast packets on their network.
The following screen page appears when you choose
Port-Based VLAN
mode and then select
Configure VLAN
.
Since source addresses of the packets are listed in MAC address table of specific VLAN (except
broadcast/multicast packets), in every VLAN the traffic between two ports will be two-way without
restrictions.
Click
New
to add a new VLAN entity and then the following screen page appears.
Use
Edit
to view and edit the current VLAN setting.
Click
Delete
to remove a VLAN entity.
Click
Uplink Port Setting
to configure uplink port members.
