About Camera Stitching
During scanning, stiff media will often not be pressed completely flat against the scanner
’
s glass-plate and
this can affect the scanner's automatic control of border lines between the cameras
–
also called
“
Stitching
”
.
Normally, only stiff media will affect stitching. A flexible media will usually be stitched correctly regardless
of its thickness and will not require you to make these adjustments. However, any stiff media, thick or thin
will usually require setting these options to ensure correct stitching between each scanner camera.
To Adjust Camera Stitching:
1. Adjust the insertion slot to accommodate your thick or normal thin yet stiff media as described in
the section
Adjusting the insertion slot for thick media with ATAC.:
2. Load the original you wish to scan.
3. Select either the "Use offsets for thick media" option or the "Use offsets for thin media" option.
Thick media is defined as media thicker than 2mm (0.08") and requires you to raise the scanner
insertion area top for scanning. See below under
To set the Stitching Offset value options
through the iJET panel
for instructions on reaching the options in the panel.
4. Make a test scanning. Bulky stiff media needs to be supported with both hands on
its way in and out of the scanner.
5. Stitching errors will be easiest to see on an image with one or more clear diagonal
lines. If the lines seem uneven, you will need to make adjustments.
6. Change the Offset value in the edit fields for each of the scanner's pair of cameras Camera A-B,
Camera B-C and Camera C-D). Normally, only positive values should be used. See below under
To set the Stitching Offset value options through the iJET panel
for instructions on reaching the
options in the panel.
7. Make test scans or previews and readjust the values until you
are satisfied that the lines are stitched correctly.
