Compaq System
Configuration
Utility
The software utility that configures software-
programmable EISA expansion boards and helps you
select slots and switch and jumper settings for ISA
boards. The utility allocates system resources among
the expansion boards and identifies conflicts in
requested board sequences.
Configuration File
A file that contains the specifications and attributes
of possible configurations of an expansion board or
option. The file provides information such as switch
settings, interrupts, DMA, I/O ports, and
system memory.
Controller
Duplexing
A fault tolerance technique with two controllers each
with their own drive array containing identical data.
Duplexing requires two SMART-2, IDA-2, or 32-Bit
Fast-SCSI-2 Controllers with identical groups of
drives.
Critical Error Log
Records non-correctable memory errors as well as
catastrophic hardware and software errors that
typically cause the system to fail. This information
helps you quickly identify and correct the problem,
minimizing downtime.
The log can be viewed through the Inspect Utility,
Diagnostics Utility, or the optional Insight Manager.
The Diagnostics Utility either resolves the error or
suggests corrective action.
