Entering the Setup or Power-On Password
To enter the Setup or Power-On Password:
1.
Turn on the workstation.
2.
When the key icon (
) appears, type your current password carefully, then press
Enter.
NOTE: Type carefully; for security reasons, the characters you type do not appear on the
screen. If you enter the password incorrectly, a broken key icon (
) appears. Try again. After
three unsuccessful tries, you will be allowed to view the current computer settings, but you will
not be able to edit or change the settings. If you only want to view the current computer settings,
press Enter.
Changing a Setup or Power-On Password
To change the Setup or Power-On Password:
1.
Turn on the workstation.
2.
To change the Setup Password, run Computer Setup.
To change the Power-on Password, when the key icon (
) appears, type your current
password, then a slash (/) or alternate delimiter character, your new password, another
slash(/) or alternate delimiter character, and your new password:
current password/new password/new password
NOTE: Type carefully; for security reasons, the characters you type do not appear on the
screen. Refer to the “National Keyboard Delimiter Characters” section in this chapter for
information about the alternate delimiter characters.
Completing this procedure causes the new password to take effect the next time you turn on
the workstation.
