Spread Belt Air Cylinders (Figure 7-

61)

Adjust both the left and right spreader

belt air cylinders to open and close the

spreader belts at the same time and at

the same speed. This will provide a

smoother and more consistent spreading

and lay down of the linen.

In all cases, make sure each operates smoothly

without banging at either end of its travel.

NOTE:

The adjustment is a little

counter-intuitive. In each case, the

air ﬂow into

is pushing the rod

out, but controlling the exhaust

flow through

is the key to

controlling rod speed.

Required Tools

thin slotted screwdriver

Perform only when the unit is OFF

with power connected.

Use extreme caution.

Locate the exhaust ﬂow controls on the

cylinder to be adjusted (Figures 7-76 to

7-61). In each case:

The control labeled A (C) affects ex-

haust air ﬂow to control how quickly

and forcefully the air cylinder rod

moves out from the cylinder body.

The control labeled B (D) affects ex-

haust air ﬂow to control how quickly

and forcefully the air cylinder rod

moves into the cylinder body.

Turn ON the compressed air supply to

the unit.

Turn power ON at the main disconnect

switch.

Press the green START button at either

station.

Make sure all STATION buttons on the

CHI Panel are off and the panel displays

reads:

FEEDER OFF

Put the unit into test mode and test the

appropriate section to determine the type

of exhaust air flow needed. For more

information, refer to the

CHI PANEL

OPERATION

bulletin,

Test

section.

TRN--Transfer clamp air cylinders

SPR--Spreader belt air cylinders

Press the red STOP button.

Adjust the exhaust ﬂow on the selected

cylinder, turning the screw 1/8 to 1/4 turn

at a time.

Adjusting the controls clockwise will

decrease the exhaust air ﬂow and slow

movement.

Adjusting the controls counter-

clockwise will increase the exhaust

air ﬂow and speed movement.

Repeat Steps 4 to 8 until air cylinder is

operating properly.

Start the unit and process several pieces

of ﬂatwork to make sure the adjustment is

working correctly.
