7.3 Prefeed/Inlet Section
Sheets and other larger pieces of flatwork are
brought into the unit through the prefeed/inlet
section, various components of which require
periodic adjustment or replacement, or occasional
repair. These procedures include:
Prefeeder Carriage Linear Bearing
Adjustment
Prefeeder Carriage Belt Tension
Adjustment
Prefeeder Carriage Belt Replacement
Clutch-Brake Roller Alignment
Clutch-Brake Roller Drive Belt Tension
Adjustment
Inlet Conveyor Drive Belt Tension
Adjustment
Enabling/Disabling Automatic Misfeed

Prefeeder Carriage Linear Bearing
Adjustment
Both prefeeder carriages are mounted on linear
bearings, which ride on a rails. Over time the
linear bearings may become loose and require
adjustment. Follow the procedure below to adjust
the inlet carriage linear bearings.
Required Tools
5 mm, 13 mm wrenches
Perform only when the unit is OFF
with power disconnected.
Turn power OFF at the main disconnect
switch.
Raise the front access guard and secure in
position using the provided bracket arms
(Figure 7-1).
Locate the two linear bearing adjustment
bolts on the rear of the bearing.
Loosen the jam nut (Figure 7-2, A).
CAUTION
ONLY increase the tension
to eliminate play on the
carriage. Too much tension
will overload the motor and
increase wear on the bearing.
Adjust the bolt clockwise (Figure 7-2, B)
just enough to take up any excess free play
in the linear bearing.
Tighten the jam nut to secure the adjust-
ment.
Repeat Steps 4 to 6 for the second jam
nut.
Lower the front access guard back into
position. Make sure it is secure.
Start the unit and feed several pieces to
check and verify the adjustment.
Readjust as necessary.
