8. Recheck windshield in its opening and if satisfactory

proceed as follows. Note Figures 10 and 11 before
proceeding.

Installation

CA U TIO N :

Always wear gloves when handling

glass.

1„ Lay glass on protective covering curved ends up.
2. Place one piece rubber weatherstrip channel around

permimeter of glass. Centralize weatherstrip around

edge of glass to avoid cocking of square corners a.t

assembly.

3. Place chalk string in depression of weatherstrip

channel completely around perimeter twice. Tape
ends of chalk string to inside of glass at bottom.

4. Place protective covering over plenum grille, front

fenders and hood.

5. Smear caulking around windshield opening.
6. Two men place windshield in position laying upper

angled corners in opening first and have assistant

push from outside inward, while technician inside

cab pulls chalk line from under rubber channel

(fig. 12).

7. Apply weatherstrip cement beneath outside lip of

weatherstripping.

REAR VIEW MIRROR

The standard equipment rear view m irror installations

are  shown  in  Figures  14  and  15.  Occasional tightening of
mounting  and  assembly bolts  and  screws  will  sharply  de
crease  occurrence  of  failure  due  to  door  slamming  or

road shock.

INSTRUMENT PANEL COMPARTMENT

Replacement

Removal of the entire assembly including door may be

accomplished by removing ten screws just inside box and

compartment  lamp  wire  (if  so  equipped).  The  door  may
be  removed,  leaving  the  compartment  intact,  by  removal
of  four  screws  and  bumper  shown  in  Figure  16.  Access

to the door stop bumper is gained by reaching up beneath

instrument panel.

Also shown in Figure 16 is the lock. Engagement of

lock in striker may be adjusted by loosening striker re
taining screws and moving the striker to desired position.

The lock cylinder may be serviced as outlined in Sec

tion 0, General Information and Lubrication.
