FRAME

FRAME  SIDEMEMBER

F ig .  17—Running  Board  and  Braces  (See  III.  for  Series)

Installation

1.  Replace  fender  and  skirt  assembly.
2.  Install  bolts  loosely.

3.  Install  shims  and  secure  all  parts  in  reverse  order 

of  removal.

4.  Tighten  shimmed  bolts.

FRONT  FENDER  SKIRT

Replacement

To  replace  the  skirt  alone,  remove  required  screws

TILT

FRONT  FENDER  AND  SURGE 

TANK  ACCESS  DOOR

Each  front  fender  is  retained  with  attaching  screws, 

nuts  and  lock  washers  as  shown  in  Figure  18.  The  handle 
attaches  to  the  bottom  at  the  rear  of  the  fender  with 
external  tooth  washers,  bolts  and  nuts.  Tape  is  used 

before  installation.

The  surge  tank  access  door  is  retained  with  screws 

and  a  stud  as  shown.

ENGINE  SPLASH  SHIELD 

Refer  to  Figure  19

and  rotate  over tire.  Reverse  procedure  to  install.

FENDER  SKIRT 

40-60  Series

Removal

1.  Turn  steering  wheel  so tire  front  is  inboard.

2.

  Underneath  the  skirt  remove

screws  at  top  at­

tached  to  fender.

3.

  Remove 

3 

screws  attaching  skirt  to  lower  fender 

extension.

4.

  Remove 

3 

screws  at front  of  skirt  attached to fender.

5.  Remove 

6

  screws  holding  skirt  to  fender  opening 

flange.

.  Remove  screw  attaching  skirt  to  radiator  grille.

7.  Underneath  the  skirt,  inboard,  remove  a  large  bolt 

fastened  through  the  fender  skirt  to  the  cowl  exten­

sion.  Note  shim  and  record.

8.

  Under  the  hood  remove 

2 

screws  attaching  skirt  re­

inforcement  to  skirt.

9.  Rotate 

skirt 

outward  over  tire,  then  remove 

rearward.

Installation

Reinstall  in  reverse  order  of  removal.  Note  condition

of  tape  sealing  of  fender  skirt  flange. 

Replace  if

necessary.

RUNNING  BOARD  AND  FENDER  EXTENSION

40,  50  and  60  Series 

(Except  F/F  Cowl  and School  Bus)

1.  Remove  bolt  from  inside  door  opening  attached  to 

lower  extension.

2.

  Remove  bolts  from  under  front  of  running  board  to 

extension bottom.

3.

  Remove 

3 

bolts  fastening  skirt  to  flange  of  lower 

extension.

4.

  Pull  lower fender  extension downward then  out.

OTHER  RUNNING  BOARDS

Refer to  Illustrations

CABS

Rem oval  and  Installation

1.  Tilt the  cab to  expose  engine  area.

2.

  Remove  screws  which  attach  shield  to  cab  support 

and  remove  shield from  vehicle.

3.

  Lower  brace  and  dis'tributor  shield  may  be  removed 

at this  time  if necessary.

4.

  To  install  follow  removal  procedure  in  reverse 

order.
