9.2.2 Reasons for extraordinary inspection
The operational readiness of the system should be checked outside of the prescribed maintenance cycles at
shorter intervals if it is determined that:
the door system is extraordinarily dirty or was not sufficiently maintained,
the door construction shows damage, e.g. damaged door elements, jambs, cross beams, etc.
the usual functionality is disrupted, e.g. due to incorrect rolling of the door skins
the maintenance intervals are exceeded,
the expected useful life has been reached (age of the door system, number of times door opened).
an unusually large quantity of dust has entered into the door's mechanical parts,
the door system is exposed to corrosive gases or liquids, e.g. in areas of sewage treatment plants or
chemical production facilities,
the door system has deformations,
metallic abrasion is evident at the base of the jambs,
unusual operating noises can be heard in the system, e.g. metallic banging, scratching or grinding
noises.
9.2.3 Testing by a qualified individual
Have the following components tested by a qualified individual:
Functioning of consumable parts (authorised qualified personnel have additional information in the
service and maintenance manual).
Function of mechanical protective devices, e.g. proper assembly of the cover plates.
Function of the rollers and drive belt
If present: Function of additional control unit component (e.g. other photo eyes, contact loops, etc.)
Checking connections to the building in accordance with DGUV 208-022 appendix 3
Check whether the required warning signs are attached to the door system.
Keep evidence of these tests in the form of a test book.
