Connection of an external position
measuring system
In the safety-capable variant, the self-contained servo-hydraulic linear axis is
not equipped with a position measuring system. The safety-capable position
measuring system has to be provided by the customer and mounted to the
linear axis, if necessary via a mounting rail. In this context, the manufacturer-
specific mounting instructions and safety instructions have to be observed.
The safety-capable position measuring system has to be connected to inter‐
face X4 on the control section. The prerequisites for a safety-capable position
measuring system are described in chapter 5.2.4 "Functional safety" on
page 22 .
Suitable safety-capable position measuring systems are offered by, for exam‐
ple, Heidenhain in the form of the linear encoder LC 485 in the order configu‐
ration described below.
