Motor cooling In the standard version, the synchronous servo-motors of the self-contained
servo-hydraulic linear axis are self-cooling. The amount of generated heat is
dissipated by natural radiation to the ambient air and by heat transfer to the
machine structure.
Contamination of the motor reduces the dissipation of heat. En‐
sure cleanliness!
Apart from self-cooling, the two cooling types of forced cooling and water
cooling are optionally possible.
Make sure that an alternative cooling system is active during op‐
eration of the self-contained servo-hydraulic linear axis, also in
the partial load range. A secondary cooling system reduces the
surface temperature of the synchronous servo-motor.
With external ventilation the motor is provided with an axial fan unit (series
MSK and MS2N) or with a radial one (with series MSK only). The fan unit can
be rated for operating voltages of 115 V (60 Hz) and 230 V (50 Hz).

In the case of water cooling, the motor is fitted with a connection thread for
the water supply and water drain. The power loss generated in the form of
heat is dissipated via the cooling water. Fluid-cooled motors may only be op‐
erated using an externally connected cooling unit.
Cooling units are not included in Bosch Rexroth’s scope of delivery and have
to be dimensioned and supplied by the customer.
