Exterior screw installation (U Shaped Door Frame)
Sealant Install
NOTE: For U-Shaped Door Frames, we recommend installing the fasteners from the
outside of the trailers. This provides better sealing and prevents the fastener’s threads
from continuous exposure to weather.
If thread cutting screws are used, the door frame will hold the screws in place and prevent
the screws from turning when the locknuts are applied. Preventing the screw from
turning, will allow lock nuts to be installed/removed from the inside of the trailer--
simplifying future maintenance.
•
Apply a bead of sealant to the underside of the screw’s head flange.
•
Place the fastener in the hole and fully drive the fastener into the door frame--
squeezing the sealant from under the fastener’s head to around the fastener. Repeat
for second fastener.
•
Place the Radar R2 device onto the screws. Place the second set of washers and lock
nuts onto the end of the screws and tighten.
IMPORTANT:
Do not over-tighten the fastener. Do not tighten fastener beyond 35 in-lb.
(4 N-m).
