INITIAL LEAK CHECK:
The dispenser will monitor pressure for a brief time to ensure no leaks are present before initializing the
fueling process.
MAIN FUELING
When the main fueling process starts, the dispenser will calculate a pressure ramp rate required to fill the tank based on CHSS
tank size and initial temperatures and pressures. During the process, the dispenser will continuously monitor multiple sensor
inputs (thermocouples, pressure transmitters, flow meter) and adjust the pressure ramp rate to meet J2601-2. Each time the
ramp rate is recalculated, the dispenser will apply the calculated pressure within the upper and lower tolerance limits by adjusting
the position of the Flow Control Valve.
COMMUNICATION FILLS
The H35 dispenser supports communication fills when the vehicle receptacle and nozzle have IRDA functionality. The
communication fill is implemented by the dispenser in accordance with SAE J2799. The dispenser collects data from the vehicle
such as: receptacle type, vehicle pressure, temperature, CHSS volume and abort signal.
NON-COMMUNICATION FILLS
The fueling algorithm will default to a non-communication fill in the event of no communication on the vehicle receptacle/nozzle.
The non-communication fill is a conservative fill, making sure that the vehicle tank pressure and temperature do not go above
the upper limits.
BANK SWITCHING
Depending on hydrogen storage supply system, it is typical for the supply tanks to be changed to a higher pressure throughout
the fill. In this event, the station will provide a signal or flag to the dispenser using Modbus protocol. The dispenser will pause,
and in this time check for the increase in pressure and for the pressure to stabilize. Once pressure is stable, the dispenser will
continue the fueling process.
SHUTDOWN TIME
When the end of the fueling process is complete, the dispenser will close the fill valve and vent hydrogen out of the dispenser
to relieve pressure in the hose so it can be disconnected with the vehicle.
