7.2.2 Preset function
The Preset function (“null position”) can be used to set the
start (null) position for the BML absolute magnetic encoder
system. Any desired values can be set in the input field.
The output value of the BML (in increments) after the
Preset function can be calculated with the following
equation:

BML resolution [μm/inc]
The Preset function changes some BML parameters. Do
not remove the sensor head during this procedure.
7.2.3 Real time errors
The real time errors are displayed with the help of LEDs:

Amplitude error The working range of the
sensor head has been
exceeded or the magnetic
tape is defective.

Check orientation of the tape (alignment of sensor head
with magnetic tape).

Exchange the magnetic tape.

Replace sensor head.
Inconsistency Plausibility check for the
sensor head fails.
