8.1.2 Write system configuration
DANGER
Uncontrolled system movement
When starting up, if the magnetic encoder system is part
of a closed loop system whose parameters have not yet
been set, the system may perform uncontrolled
movements. This could result in personal injury and
equipment damage.

The system must be taken out of operation before
configuration.
►
The sensor module may only be connected to the
USB adapter for configuration.
►
After using the Configuration Tool remove the USB
adapter.
Clicking on Write
SySteM COnfiguratiOn
sends information
to the sensor module. Transmission takes a certain amount
of time, since all the parameters are sent.
The button Write
SySteM COnfiguratiOnS
is only
active if there are pending changes in
parameters.
8.1.3 Read system configuration
The current sensor module parameters can be read out
using the reaD
SySteM COnfiguratiOn
button.
When reading out, the parameters shown in the
Configuration Tool are rejected.
This is helpful for example when the parameters
in the Configuration Tool are changed but not
written to the sensor module and you want to
display the original settings currently stored in
the sensor head again.
8.1.4 Calibration function
Use this function to calibrate your BML BM1/BM2
magnetic encoder system for rotative or linear applications.
Calibration is absolutely necessary in order to set the
sensor module to the installation orientation of the
magnetic tape. Only then can proper system function be
assured.
Requirements:
– Appropriate magnetic disk or linear tape with correctly
set number of master period count (see chapter 8.1.1
on page 26)
– Proper system setup (e.g. optimal air gap, etc…)
If an error occurs during calibration and
calibration is interrupted, proper system
function cannot be assured. If this happens you
must repeat the calibration.

tab and follow the instructions
provided by the Calibration Wizard.
