Specific functions BML-S1G (continued)
6.2.2 Preset function
The Preset function (“null position”) can be used to set the
start (null) position for the BML absolute magnetic encoder
system.
The output value of the BML (in increments) after the
Preset function can be calculated with the following
equation:
BML output [inc] =
Preset [µm]
BML resolution [μm/inc]
There are two Preset types which can be set on the
S

tab (see chapter 6.1.1 on page 16):
– Normal (for all BML-S1G versions)
– Enhanced (for BML-S1G version with additional 1 V
pp
output)
Preset can be accessed by clicking the
p

button of
the Position tab. The following user parameters can be
defined:
–
Preset Position [μm]
: This option is available in both
normal and enhanced mode.
Value range: 0…100000 μm
–
Preset [deg]
: This option is only available in enhanced
mode.
Value range
: 0…348.75° in 11.25° increments
A detailed explanation of the function can be
found in the document
Interfaces for BML
Magnetic Encoder System

.
The Preset function changes some BML parameters. Do
not remove the sensor head during this procedure.
6.2.3 Read stored errors
The available real-time errors are stored in the sensors and
can be read out (

errOrS
). After the readout,
these stored values will be displayed on the Position tab
(

- S

), and they will be cleared from the
BML.
For additional information see user’s guide BML-S1G.
