4.3.4
Considering project planning scenarios
Various typical scenarios for the project planning of systems are presented in the VE operating
manual. Among other things, the interaction between hardware and software is considered. See
the VP600 / VP5000 project planning manual.
4.3.5
Allowing sufficient space
Plan sufficient space around the VECTOPOWER. Space is needed for the connections and for air
circulation. For the minimum space requirements, see chapter 3.4 Product description, Installation
dimensions and distances.
Depending on the type of system in which the VECTOPOWER is integrated, suitable measures and
procedures must be defined to be able to install / remove and connect the device.
4.3.6
Providing secure fastening
The mounting plate on which the VECTOPOWER is mounted must be able to support the weight. It
must be flat and stable. It must also be able to withstand further mechanical loads without
deformation (bending, twisting). Mechanical stresses in a vehicle, for example, are caused by
vibrations during operation.
The surface of the VECTOPOWER can heat up to 95 °C / 203 °F during operation. The mounting
plate must withstand these temperatures without losing its stability or catching fire.
Dimensions for the required holes in the mounting plate, see chapter 3.4 Product description,
Installation dimensions and distances.
Use suitable screw lock washers to prevent unintentional loosening of the screws. This is
particularly important if the VECTOPOWER is installed in a mobile application.
4.3.7
Providing adequate cooling
To protect the VECTOPOWER, the power is reduced when a certain internal temperature is
exceeded (derating). If the internal temperature continues to rise, the VECTOPOWER is switched
off.
The VECTOPOWER has connections for cooling. A water-glycol mixture is recommended as the
coolant. Technical data see chapter 3.3.8 Product description, Technical data, Data for cooling.
Prevent the formation of condensation in the VECTOPOWER. Condensation can form when the
temperature of the coolant drops below the ambient temperature.
ARADEX recommends installing the following components in the coolant circuit:
•
A flow monitor helps to detect whether a lack of coolant flow is the cause of derating or an
error.
