VoiceMail answering machine
Receiving messages
The
VOICEMAIL
button switches the answering machine
ON
and
OFF
.
The red light around the
VOICEMAIL
button shows that VoiceMail is
on
.
Once switched on, the answering machine is ready to receive messages. Callers will
hear the following
outgoing message
:
“
Your call cannot be taken at the moment. Please leave
your name and a short message after the tone.
”
♦
Instead of the above pre-recorded message, you can
record your own
outgoing message
. (Information on page 109.)
During incoming messages, a long period of silence will automatically terminate a
message. Note you can set a
time limit
on incoming messages. (For information see
Advanced settings page 146.)
You can also set the
number of rings
before a call is automatically answered. (For
information see Advanced settings page 146.)
&
If the VoiceMail memory is full, the answering machine will not accept any
further messages.
Interrupting the answering machine
While a call is being answered, you can lift the handset (or press
HANDSFREE
) to
take over from the answering machine. This enables you to
screen
calls. In other
words – hear who's calling first, then answer those you want to speak to.
If you don't want to hear VoiceMail messages coming in, you can switch off
call screening
. (For information see Advanced settings page 146.)
