Giving out your email address
When you are asked for your email address (or if you want to print it on business cards,
letter-headings, etc), you should quote it as follow
s
:
✎
To write it:
To say it:
“
top dash man at amserve dot com
”
♦
If you prefer, you may quote your address as
amserve.net
instead of
amserve.com
(email sent to either address will reach you).
SPAM WARNING
We recommend you exercise caution in giving out your email address, especially
to companies who may send you unsolicited email (known as
'spam'
). This
practice is very common on web sites, many of which ask you to enter your
email address so that they can spam you with sales information. What's more,
some of them pass on your email address to a generic list used by other
companies. Be very careful, therefore, to whom you release your email address.
♦
If you see this display (
Dialling for email
)
after registration, it means that the
e-m@iler
is
going to collect any email waiting for you.
Action required:
Please wait a minute or so while the
e-m@iler
displays the messages:
Dialling for email
followed by
Checking email
, and then
Collecting email
(if there is any).
The
e-m@iler
will then return to the standby display, showing the current date and time.
♦
If you hear
3 beeps
and see this display
(showing the number of new email messages,
for example
01
), it means that
you have mail
to read. (Note that the red
light above
the display will come on.)
You can set the
e-m@iler
not to beep when email is
collected (information on page 136).
