Registration
- 26 -
Note that soon after you've completed registration, you will receive a
confirmation email message. (You may also see an advert displayed
–
information on page 99.)
Action required:
Read the message(s) when you are ready. (Page 63 tells you how to read new email.)
Once you have finished registration, the
e-m@iler
is ready to use. If you wish to
send an email message right now, go straight to page 56.
You can register
additional users
on the
e-m@iler
, each with their own email address
(for information see Advanced settings page 129). You can use this facility to register a
business email address. For example, having registered yourself as
, you can register an additional user as
. This enables you to keep your personal and
business email in separate 'folders'.
‘Un-registering’
If you wish to clear all the stored information in the
e-m@iler
(email and VoiceMail
messages, Address Book entries, etc) and
restore the original factory settings
,
contact Amserve Support (see page 29) who will advise you of the procedure. You may
wish to un-register the
e-m@iler
if you intend to give it to a different user.
Charges
Once you have registered, whenever you send or receive email, the
e-m@iler
makes an
email call
. The email call is to connect the
e-m@iler
to the
Email Service Provider –
Amserve
. Email calls are charged by the
session
. There are two parts to the charge
per session: (a) a fixed minimum charge, plus (b) your local telephone call charge.
Whether your email session is long or short, the fixed minimum charge is the
same. This charge is the amount you were advised of during registration
(step 19). You can check the email charge any time on the
SERVICES
menu
– look under

E-MAILER SERVICE
CHARGES
.
The amount of local telephone call charge depends on the duration of the email
session. This is the connection time. A long email session costs more in the same way
that a long telephone call leads to a higher telephone bill.
An email session can be used both to
send and receive
email – and no matter how
many messages you send and/or receive in the same session, you are charged the
fixed minimum charge only once. If you choose to use a session just to
receive
email,
you are still charged the fixed minimum charge for that session. (The same applies if
you use a session just to
send
email.)
