A zone must be programmed as a direct, delayed or 24-hour zone. It is also possible to program a zone as an
instant
and
delayed zone. In this case the zone functions as a follower zone. A follower zone is delayed
when arming the system for the duration programmed at the follower delay time. When disarming, the
follower zone is ONLY delayed when a delayed zone has opened first.
Usually most zones will be used as Normally Closed (NC). By removing the normally closed selection, the
zone is set to function as a normally open zone. This means that the alarm contacts of the detector are open
when it is in idle state. Using a normally open contact is also possible in combination with the EOL
principal. When a zone has been programmed as a latch keyswitch, the normally open/closed programming
decides what is the Arm and the Disarm position.
Zones can be used with EOL principal. With this principal a constant check of the cable is made. For more
information see “EOL inputs” at page 7.
All zones of a wireless interface module MUST be programmed as EOL zones!
Attention:
for each zone you can program both the NO/NC functionality and the EOL principal!
The
Safe
option can be used for special applications. This option is developed for zones which are used to
secure a vault or a safe room. The idea is that zones which are programmed as a safe-zone, are also
programmed to a separate section, the so-called
safe-section
. This section will normally be armed and will
only be disarmed for a brief time, when access to the safe is required. As soon as the section is disarmed, a
timer starts counting down. With the option “Safezone alarm when > … min. dis.” in screen 8 you can
program the maximum number of minutes the safe-section can be disarmed. When the section is disarmed
for a longer time than programmed, a “section too long disarmed” alarm occurs. This alarm is reported to the
central station with a special SIA code (only when SIA or SIA-HS protocol is used).
Hint:
this function can for instance also be used to guard emergency doors. When the timer is set to 60
minutes, the emergency doors can be opened for the programmed time. When the doors stay open for a
longer time, a report follows.
At
Bell
you can program the zone to function as a doorbell zone. A zone programmed as a doorbell zone
will activate the doorbell output every time the zone is activated and only when the section is in the
disarmed state. The doorbell output can be programmed in screen 6, at “doorbell output”. The user can
program the doorbell to function or not by executing function 2#. When the section of this doorbell zone is
armed, activating the zone will result in an alarm. This means that the doorbell function is only active when
the section to which the zone belongs, is disarmed. You can also program the speaker output of an I/O
module (output 9) to be used as the doorbell output. In that case the speaker will sound a three second tone
every time the doorbell zone is activated. From version 2.0, it is possible to program the speaker output of
the control panel for this function as well.
When in the
Byp
column an “x” is programmed, the user is allowed to bypass this zone. Only level 4 or 5
users are allowed to bypass zones. We advise to program zones that detect life threatening situations, e.g.
fire and ambush zones, in such a way that they are not allowed to be bypassed by the user. According to
several regulations an alarm control panel is not allowed to arm when all zones are bypassed. To comply
with these rules there must be at least one zone per section that is not allowed to be bypassed.
At ENT and EXT the entry and exit delays in seconds are programmed. The programmed values can be
between 000 and 255 seconds. Entry and exit delays only influence zones that are programmed as delayed or
follower zones. Programming any values for instant or 24 hour zones is useless. When a section is armed, a
follower zone is delayed for the time programmed at Exit delay. A follower zone only has an entry delay
when a delayed zone is activated first.

Attention
: When a zone is programmed as a delayed or as a follower zone, there also must be useful entry
and exit delays programmed. The value 000 cannot be used!
