Boom suspension
-
The booms are vertically suspended by means of the main cables and springs.
-
The booms are horizontally suspended by means of a cable wound in a cross over a shaft
("helix") and stabilizers.

Setting the boom tilt
13.5.1
Description of the suspension function of booms - tilting
The booms hang on the cable on the principle of weight where they may swing freely.
Exactly in the middle, the cable is wound crosswise over a shaft which is located on the lift
truck. The cable is correctly adjusted when both ends are the same length. Both halves of the
booms are in a horizontal plane.
If the sprayer drives around a hole and the vehicle leans to the left, for example, then the left
part of the cable is shortened and the right is lengthened, thus tilting the booms to the right, so
the booms remain in a horizontal position to the ground.
This swinging suspension of the booms prevents the occurrence of short but hard impacts of the
booms on the ground.
The booms can be aligned by hand, by hand with the potentiometer, automatically using the
parallelomat (antennae with contact sensors), or by using ultrasonic sensors.
13.5.2
Manually tilting the booms
See (Figure 6/1)
In the standard version, the control panel is equipped with a toggle switch that sets the plane of
the booms.
The toggle switch (6) can be tilted up and down to tilt the booms to the right and left.
The boom tilt switch (4) must be set to the "hand" symbol.
Electronic control is linked with the tilt motor (1 Figure 5/3) and through the gears (4 Figure
5/3) turns the shaft of the helix (3 Figure 5/3), thereby tilting the booms to the desired position.
13.5.3
Manually tilting the booms with "dial" potentiometer
See (Figure 6/1)
In another variant, the control panel can be also equipped with a potentiometer to set the boom
levels.
The potentiometer (5) can be rotated 0 +/- 135 ° left and right.
The boom tilt switch (4) must be switched to the potentiometer.
Electronic control is linked to the tilt motor (1 Figure 5/3) and through the gears (4 Figure 5/3)
turns the shaft of the helix (3 Figure 5/3), thereby tilting the booms to the desired position.
In order to finely adjust the tilt angle, the tilt ratio of the potentiometer knob to the boom tilt is
1:8; this means that when the potentiometer knob is rotated by 1°, the boom tilts 8 mm in the
same direction of the knob rotation.
