12 Sensor calibration
Regularly, at least before the beginning of each season, the calibration of the flow meter and the
travel sensor should be checked.
With higher annual performance, the sensor should be calibrated after 3000 ha.
At this point it should be noted that the sprayer is subject to regular inspection at an officially
authorized station. This check is to be performed every 2 years.
12.1 Fully automatic regulation
Carry out calibration of the wheel sensors and flow meter according to the instructions of the
particular computer type.
12.2 Sprayer without automatic dose regulation
12.2.1 Testing the travel speed
Testing the drive speed is necessary because the tachometer indicator or electric speedometer
may be defective. Knowledge of the actual drive speed is essential for precise plant protection.
First, measure the distance of 100 m. The starting line must be chosen so that the sprayer is
already going at the desired speed when it crosses the starting line.
This speed must be constant throughout the distance traveled along the 100 m track.
The spray tank should be filled half full. Use a precise stopwatch to measure the time required
for driving the 100 m track.
Determine the actual drive speed by checking the table, or calculate it exactly using the
following formula.

12.2.2 Calculating the necessary flow rate for 1 nozzle
First, check or derive the following information:

Type of nozzles.
- The actual ground speed.
- Dose (according to recommendations of product manufacturer).
