13.4.6 Control timing
Shielding gas pre-flow/shielding gas post-flow
The timing for weld start and the shielding gas pre-flow/post-flow normally corresponds to the timing
described if no end crater is set.
However, if shielding gas rinsing was activated before the weld start and the weld start is activated without
deactivating shielding gas rinsing, the pre-flow period is omitted and the voltage is immediately present at
the output. Conversely, regardless of whether shielding gas rinsing is switched between ON/OFF after the
welding process is complete, there is a mandatory post-flow period during which shielding gas rinsing
cannot be stopped.
The shielding gas pre-flow time and shielding gas post-flow time can be set to 0.
Sequence at weld start and at wire feed/wire retract/weld detection
The weld sequence determined by ON/OFF switching of the welding start mode is shown in the following
diagram.
The welding conditions (welding mode, welding current, etc.) for starting the welding process must be set at
least 30 ms before the welding start is activated. If the welding condition is changed at the same time
as the welding start is activated, changes to the welding conditions may not be applied properly at the time
of the welding start.
No wire feed, wire retract, or weld detection processes are allowed during the period between the time the
weld start is activated until the inverter (voltage output) is turned off. If the wire feed or wire retract mode is
activated before the weld start is activated, weld start is not allowed. If weld start is activated during a weld
detection process, the weld start has priority and the weld detection process is stopped.
