Align
These functions are used to align multiple scans.
Choose Reference Scan
Specifies the scan file (RTPI) to which other scans will be
aligned. This can only be selected once in a new scene – before
any alignment.
Import PolyWorks Group
Import a PolyWorks Group (typically used
when initial
alignment was done in PolyWorks/Modeler).
Share Alignment With
Applies the alignment of one file to another file. This is used
when a scan file has been split into two parts (usually because
the single file is too large for the computer). Once one part is
aligned, the same alignment will apply to the other part.
Clear Alignment
Removes the alignment of a file; typically used to realign files.
Copy Correspondence Points
Copies the range data correspondence points from one
correspondence group to a new range file for either color
alignment or range alignment. This is helpful when using a
range file that has already been used once – some or all of the
points selected on the range data can be reused. After copying,
select a point and then create its correspondence point in the
other file (range or image file).
Create Model from Selected Data
Creates a new model from all of the range and image
files that are selected in the Scene Tree. The files must be
aligned. If there are data selections in the files, only the
selected data will be included. Select the files and then the
function. The Target Number of Triangles in Preferences is
used for each file’s contribution.
Add Selected Data to Model
Takes one or more aligned range or image files, or data
selected in the files (if a selection exists), creates models from
them, and merges these models with an existing model. It can
be used to combine multiple scans into a single model. First
select the data within files as desired. Then select a model file,
and the data or image files, in the Scene Tree. Choosing this
function will then create a new model. Note that you must save
the model as a new file if you want to keep it. The Target
Number of Triangles in Preferences is used for each file’s
contribution.
Insert High-Res Photo
Replaces the color data in a model with the color from an
aligned image file. After selecting the region to replace in the
model data, select the image file and
Insert High-res Photo
.
See section 12.2 for details on selecting the region.
Create Simplified Model
Takes as input one or more range or model files. For each file,
it performs ‘intelligent’ triangle reduction maintaining the
visual resolution while greatly reducing the number of points
and produces a texture-mapped VRML file. If a region of a
range file is selected you can produce a model from the whole
file or the selected data only. Small, Medium and Large refer to
the size of the resulting file – Large files will provide the
highest resolution and the largest number of triangles.
