Using an External Switch Box
You can connect a headset in series with the handset connector as shown in figure 3-5. The switch
box usually has an amplifier that is powered either from an ac outlet or from batteries. This box
allows you to select between using the handset and using a headset.

Description
When you power up the phone, it performs a quick power on self test, and typically starts
operation in less than 20 seconds. The exact time depends on your network. The phone tries to
find a DHCP server if DHCP is enabled.
