connecting to the media server you can try setting either

Scanning
Method
If you want to limit the file types that can be played by your
DLNA/UPnP compatible device select

Otherwise leave the default value of
Scan All Files
.
For example if you just want to play videos on your DLNA/UPnP
compatible device select
Scan by File Type
. Under
Available
File Types
in the
Video
column select the file types you want to
be able to play and click
Selected
. If you want to be able to play
all file types select
All Video
.
All Video
will select all video
formats shown. After selecting which file types click
Apply Scan
Settings
then click on
Scan Now
. Scanning may take several
minutes depending on the size of your USB drive.
The
Scanning Status
field at the top of the page will indicate that
the Cable Modem/Router is scanning your USB drive. If it does not
return to Ready after a few minutes refresh the page.
Note:
If you do not run the scan, than all file types will still be
visible to your DLNA/UPnP compatible device. If you are using the
default setting of
Scan all Files
it is not necessary to scan your
USB device.
