PWE Card User Screens and Settings
Note:
These settings are done as a one-time only environmental selection. If you are unsure,
consult the IT responsible personnel in order to correctly configure the packet stream
environment.Once set, a change to these setting will require that the card be deleted
and re-added to the system.
Figure 24-4.PWE card initial setup parameters
The initial card parameters that need to be set are:
1. Facility Type. The user must select T1 or E1 facility type.
2. Protocol. The user must choose between UDP, MPLS or MEF. Each respective choice
will encapsulate the outbound packet headers with the chosen format. Correctly assigning
the protocol is vital to ensuring successful transmission of packets into and out of the
packet network.
3. RTP Header. The choice here is off or on. The RTP consideration is for Real-time
Transport Protocol. This is for future implementation of differential clock recovery and
should be left to off for now.
4. MPLS Outer Label. The choice here is off or on, but on is supported only if the protocol
MPLS has been chosen. If in doubt, consult the IT network staff.
Once these field have been selected, the user should save the data. This screen will then be
replaced by the screen in Figure 24-5, and this card setup screen will not be displayed again
unless the card has been deleted and re-added. The choices made for the IP packet transport
environment appear in the middle of the main screen, as shown below and indicated by the
GLOBAL SETTINGS field. The user will not be able to change any of these parameters
unless the PWE card is deleted and re-added.
