23.2.1.3 Installing the Card
Insert the OC3 server card into one of the three server card chassis slots (P1, P2 or P3).
Presently the system can accommodate only one OC3 server card. Due to power demands, a
new power supply is under development by Zhone Technologies to allow the shelf to power
and support two OC3 cards when the ring feature has been fully developed. Some customer
configurations could create issues for running on a simplex power supply, contact Zhone GSS
for a copy of the IMACS CPU-7 Power Consumption Calculator, 815-00018-01.
23.3 OC3 Card User Screens and Settings
23.3.1 OC3 Card Main Screen
Figure 23-3 below shows the IMACS Main Screen, with an installed OC3 card. To go to the
OC3 card main screen, highlight the OC3 card as shown in Figure 23-3 and press <Enter>.

Note that when the card is installed, the fiber ports are automatically set to in-service and will
raise the loss of signal (LOS) alarms if the fibers are not terminated, as in this case.
Below in Figure 23-4, the user has positioned on the OC3 card and <Enter> has been pressed,
displaying the OC3 main setup screen. This screen will show up only once upon the initial
provisioning of the card, when you are asked for basic communications setup.
