pass-through facilities (EXTERNAL). The bottom section of the OC3 main screen displays
the eight available T1/E1 facilities dropping on the local IMACS backplane. This final section
of the card display is the only fields available to the user for provisioning actions - the other
two sections are display only.
Table 23-1. Main Screen Actions
eXternal
This screen action takes you to the provisioning screen for the sixteen external T1/E1
facilities. Below in Figure 23-6 is the first of two pages containing the sixteen facilities. We’ve
navigated to the fourth facility, hit the enter key and have changed the status of the port to
active (actv) and chosen to route this facility on STS-1 Group 4 and choosing VT number 1.
Once completed, we would need to save this command change to make the changes active and
write the data to the database.
Action
Function
Save
Saves changes to settings.
Undo
Returns all settings to the last saved state.
Refr
Redraws (refreshes) the screen. This command queries all the statuses on the
card, and may take a few seconds to complete.
eXternal
This command takes the user to the sixteen (16) mapped T1/E1 facilities that
are tunneled through the IMACS over the optical fiber on STS-1. These
facilities do not touch the IMACS backplane, but are essentially hair-pinned
from the optical uplink to the T1/E1 termination port on the faceplate.
Vt
On the currently highlighted WAN facility, will take you to the two-port
representation of the eight WAN terminations to the backplane.
Ether
Will take you to the Ethernet port section.
Fiber switch
Allows the user to execute a fiber protection switch.
Main
Returns to the System Main Screen. If changes are made to settings and not
saved, you will be prompted to save or lose changes.
