Procedure
Please follow the instructions of the Checkout and Maintenance form (see Section 8 Appendices) as
accurate as possible. For any nonconformity please perform the necessary adjustments and
alignments

Technical and Electrical Safety Check
2.3.1
General Information
The detailed description of the technical safety check procedure can be found in
(Medical Electrical Equipment in Field Service) This Manual is for all
Carl Zeiss Meditec AG medical products applicable and equates the latest international rules for
electrical safety. Additionally, this service manual also describes the most important procedures
inclusive instrument specific procedures e.g. the reading points for the different tests.
NOTE
If you have national rules for electrical safety,
only analogous. In this case you have to fulfil the values of your national standards (e.g.
NFPA 99, AAMI ES-1).
Only qualified technicians shall perform these tests. Qualification shall include training on the subject,
knowledge, experience, and acquaintance with the relevant technologies and regulations. The
technician shall be able to assess safety and shall be able to recognize possible consequences and
hazards arising from non-conforming equipment.
2.3.2
Procedure of the technical safety check
Complete the following points in line with the test procedures of the Instrument
Checklist:
Check that the housing (in particular the ventilation slots) is undamaged and free from
contamination.
Check all cables (in particular the insulation) for damage.
Check that all notes and labels are complete and correctly positioned using the user manual.
Checking the electrical safety
(This test must be performed as part of the installation procedure, the annual maintenance service
and technical safety check, or after repairs affecting safety-relevant components).
During the technical safety check, the device must be tested for electrical safety.
Perform the measurements in accordance with IEC 62353:2007 and DIN EN 62353:2008.
The measuring results must be documented in the technical safety check report.
