NOTE:

Place the timing chain onto both camshaft
sprockets and then install the camshaft
sprockets onto the camshafts.
When installing the camshaft sprockets, start
with the exhaust camshaft and be sure to keep
the timing chain as tight as possible on the ex-
haust side.
Do not turn the crankshaft when installing
the camshaft to avoid damage or improper
valve timing.

Turn both camshafts opposite each other so
that the punch marks
c
in the camshaft are
aligned with the arrow marks d in the cam-
shaft caps as shown.
S
While holding the camshafts, temporarily tight-
en the camshaft sprocket bolts.
5. Install:

Timing chain tensioner
Installation steps:
S
While lightly pressing the timing chain tension-
er rod by hand, turn the tensioner rod fully
clockwise with a thin screwdriver

With the timing chain tensioner rod turned all
the way into the timing chain tensioner hous-
ing (with the thin screwdriver still installed),
install the gasket and the timing chain tension-
er
2 onto the cylinder block.
Always use a new gasket.
