It is recommended that the majority
of STEEN Solution
TM
be removed at
the end of the first hour of perfu-
sion and replaced with the same
volume and normothermic temper-
ature of fresh STEEN Solution
TM
Aseptically spike 3 fresh bottles
of STEEN Solution
TM
onto the load-
ing manifold in positions 1
-

Press the
‘+/

’
button.
Select 500cc at the Remove field
and select the
‘
✓
’
Remove button to
start pump.
When close to 500 cc's are re-
moved from the reservoir, select
500cc at the Add field and select
the "
✓
”
Add button to start pump.
Wait a few minutes for the solu-
tion to circulate and repeat steps 3
-
4 until 1500
-
2000cc

s have been
replaced.
To add or remove by eye, press
the
‘
Add
’
or
‘
Remove
’
button un-
til the desired amount is added or
removed.
CAUTION: When pressing the
‘
Remove
’
or
‘
Add
’
button, do not
slide your finger off of the button
and then release it. Doing so
may cause the pump to continue
running until the button is
pressed again due to the software
losing focus on the touchscreen
monitor.
NOTE: STEEN Solution
TM
may be
added using the
“
Statue of Liberty
”
method described in Section 2.4.2
EVLP Strategy
NOTE: After the first hour of perfusion, it is recommended to replace the majority of STEEN Solution
TM
with
fresh solution.
After the exchange of the STEEN Solution
TM
additional medications may be added to the reservoir at the determination
of the clinician. Those additions may include the following:
Methylprednisolone
(500 mg)
Broad
-
spectrum antibiotic (500 mg) and/or anti
-
fungal medications if the donor was positive for fungal infection
Heparin (range 3,000U
-
10,000U, where 10,000 U is the recommended value)
