Note: Please note that an enabled analogue video input always has priority over an IP camera that has
been configured for the same channel.
3.7.7 eSATA interface / External HDD or RAID Systems
CamDisc HNVR devices are fitted with an eSATA interface to connect an external HDD or RAID system.
To use an external RAID system, it is necessary to have a special coded internal HDD on the CamDisc
HNVR device.
This special coded (RAID-ID) HDD can be ordered by HeiTel.
RAID systems are not distributed by HeiTel. The supported RAID level is defined by the RAID system.

3.8 Removable Hard Disk
Why removable hard disks?
CamDisc HNVR is equipped with a special frame for holding removable hard disks. Hard disk advantages at
a glance:

Flexible matching of application to storage capacity

Availability of original image data if copies are not admissible for legal reasons
l
Enhancing storage capacity by using several removable hard disks in turn. This allows recording times of
any duration
l
In addition to online evaluation, CamDisc HNVR removable hard disks can be evaluated offline, i.e. not
by using CamDisc HNVR, but a separate evaluation PC
l
Faster access to storage image data with separate evaluation PC
Hard disk information
Every hard disk is extensively tested for performance and functionality before release. Special attention is
given to the factors low power consumption and low heat development. These contribute to prolonged product
life. To ensure that all CamDisc HNVR hard disks meet these criteria, every hard disk is coded, formatted,
mounted in a CamDisc HNVR specific removable frame, and subsequently tested again.
Note: Only use original HeiTel hard disks specially configured for operation with CamDisc HNVR.
Conventional hard disks are not supported by the CamDisc HNVR series.
Video data integrity
To prevent manipulation of digital image data, video data cannot be changed by PC applications to be played
back into the frame storage device. This ensures CamDisc HNVR containing only video data originally
recorded by CamDisc HNVR.
