3. Specify the contents of the original document—Text and
Pictures, Text only, or Picture only.
If you specify Text and Pictures, Pagis Pro will perform a
segmentation, or layering, pass on the scanned image.
Also, depending on your scanner, Pagis Pro may scan in two
passes, a high-resolution binary (black and white) scan, and a
lower resolution color scan.
Text only or Picture only results in a file with no segmentation.
4. Specify color and resolution.
•
Text—If you ever plan to run OCR on the scanned document,
make sure to specify a resolution of 300 to 400 dots per inch
(dpi). Also click the Enhance for OCR Accuracy checkbox
for best results.
•
Photo—For most practical purposes, a resolution of higher
than 200 dpi is unnecessary. However, you are limited only
by the highest resolution your scanner supports.
•
Color—Most popular color scanners support 24-bit color
(millions of colors). For on-screen display or web publishing,
24-bit color is usually more than adequate. For color print
publishing, select the highest color depth supported by your
scanner (up to 24-bit color, the maximum color depth
supported by Pagis Pro). For black-and-white print
publishing, you might want to select a grayscale setting.
