23.9.3 Emergency start
Would the electrical system fail the engine can be emergency
started by operating the master starting valve CV321 manually.
In emergency start the stop lever is used to control the accelera-
tion.
Note!
The start is mechanically blocked, if the stop lever on the
engine is in STOP position, or pneumatically blocked, if the
turning gear is engaged.
Note!
If there is an active non-resetable shutdown on WECS the
shutdown solenoids needs to be deactivated.
23.9.4 Deactivating shutdown solenoids to enable
emergency start
Shutdown solenoids are activated until the engine speed is below
1 rpm or until installation specific Stop solenoid active time have
elapsed since the shutdown was initiated
and
the shutdown reset
has been given. If there is a need to emergency start the engine
during the shutdown sequence,
shutdown solenoids can be
deactivated by activating the shutdown override.
Note!
Shutdown solenoids will be reactivated, if the shutdown over-
ride is deactivated and shutdown reset has not been given
before that. Shutdown solenoids will also be activated, if there
is at least one active stop or shutdown input, when the shut-
down override is deactivated.
Activation of shutdown override is not sufficient action
in two cases:
1 Shutdown solenoids
are activated due to emergency stop.
2 Shutdown solenoids
are activated due to backup over-
speed detection (limit about 18% over nominal speed).
In case of emergency stop the emergency stop button needs to be
released or the wire to R12 of RM disconnected.
In case of backup overspeed detection the connector R1-R3 of
the RM needs to be removed. If connector R15 to R20 in the RM
is disconnected the shutdown solenoids are completely deacti-
vated.
Note!
Do not forget to deactivate the shutdown override and to
replace connectors, when critical situation is over.
