Chapter 6: Client Audio
Arguably one of the most powerful features of 9sg is the ability to stream lossless
audio (bandwidth permitting) from various patch points within 9sg directly through
the NfRemote client. While it may not always be practical to establish a calibrated
“reference” monitoring position directly at the location where 9sg is installed, this
feature allows you to perform very accurate and detailed audio monitoring
remotely. This would even include sources connected to the unit’s external MPX
inputs such as a remotely located tuner or backup audio processor.
The “Client Audio” menu is divided into four submenus, each with their own set of
parameters…”Client Audio Out”, “Client Mic Input”, “Client File Recorder”, and
“Client IP Options”.
Client Audio Out
This menu allows control of audio output from the NfRemote client, including the
patch point, and various monitoring calibration controls. The additional submenus
in this section are identical to those in the “Monitor Outputs” section.
“Patch Point” menu
To enable client audio output, click the “power button” icon in this menu. A
selectable Sample Rate Converter (SRC) ensures that the audio remains stable,
though when enabled this feature consumes additional CPU resources.
All available audio devices on the system for client audio output will be enumerated
in the dropdown list next to the SRC control. Click the “reload” icon to update this
list.
Client volume and buffer length are both adjustable as well. If you are experiencing
audio dropouts, increase the “Audio Buffer” setting. This buffer can hold up to 10
seconds of audio to accommodate even the most hostile network conditions.
