15 TROUBLESHOOTING
PROBLEM PROBABLE CAUSE REMEDY
1 . The console does not come on . Main power key switch set to “O”. Turn the main power key switch to “I”
2 . The console does not come
on .
When the main power switch
and the key switch are both
turned to “I” the console remains
switched off.
Turn the key switch and the main
power switch to “O” and:
Battery not connected.
Check the battery connections.
Battery completely flat. Recharge the flat battery.
Fuse (20A) blown. Replace the fuse.
3 . The starter motor does not
turn .
With the key switch turned to “I”
the display comes on but when
the “START/STOP ENGINE”
button is pressed the starter
motor does not turn.
Battery not charged enough. Recharge the flat battery.
4 . The starter motor turns but
the engine does not start .
With the key switch turned to “I”
the display comes on but when
the “START/STOP ENGINE”
button is pressed the starter
motor turns but the engine does
not start.
Fuel cock closed. Open the fuel cock.
No fuel flow.
- Check the fuel level in the tank.
- Check the fuel filter.
Ignition fault.
- Check the spark plug cap is secu-
rely in place.
- Check the spark gap and that the
electrodes are clean.
5 . The battery indicator and
digits flash.(740 IOX, 540 IX).
The message “BATT”. appe -
ars . (340 IX) (340 IX)
When attempting to start the
machine, the machine does not
start, the “Battery” indicator and
the text on the digits starts to
flash indicating that the voltage
is lower than 12V.
Battery not charged enough. Charge the battery.
Recharging fuse (25A) blown. Replace the fuse.
Faulty battery. Replace the battery.
6 . The battery indicator and
digits flash. (740 IOX, 540 IX).
The message “BATT”. appe -
ars . (340 IX) (340 IX) .
The “Battery” indicator and the
text on the digits start to flash
indicating a voltage over 12V.
The text on the digits indicates
a voltage over 12V; there is an
overvoltage.
Contact an authorised assistance
centre.
7 . The battery indicator and di-
gits flash and then the engine
dies . (740 IOX, 540 IX) . The
message “BATT”. appears.
(340 IX) .
The “Battery” indicator and the
text on the digits start to flash in -
dicating a voltage over 12V then
the machine turns itself off.
The battery has exceeded the over-
voltage threshold.
