NOTE: Avoid indiscriminately pressing either Reset button in this group.
They should be pressed only after their associated lamp has been replaced
with a new one.
This page is typically used for lamp maintenance. The detector keeps
track of the number of run-time hours for each lamp. The deuterium
lamp has a lifetime of approximately 1000 hours and the tungsten-
halogen lamp’s lifetime is about 2500 hours. Lamp lifetime will vary
depending upon the application.
When you press either Reset button, the stored total run time for the
associated lamp is reset to zero and the Last Reset field is updated to
the current date and time. After you replace a lamp, press the Reset
button
.
The lamp buttons also provide on/off control. When you turn on the
deuterium lamp, its Status field reads
Starting
during the 30-second
ignition period and then changes to
On
. If there is a problem with
either lamp, its Status field will read
Failed
.
NOTE: The intensity of the deuterium lamp falls off very slightly over a
period of time after it is turned on. You should wait at least 1 ½ for the lamp
to stabilize after a cold start before collecting data in the UV range.
